This guide to the natural and historical resources of the Alpine Loop Backcountry Byway is the only guide solely devoted to the Alpine Loop. It includes a detailed topographical map, points of interest, history, wildlife & wildflowers of the area, safety tips, and much more. The map has numbers on it which correspond to the section of the quide with details about ghost towns, mining camps, and other "points of interests."
The Alpine Loop explores 65 miles of spectacular peaks and narrow glacial valleys, including two 12,000 foot passes and well-preserved remains of stamp mills, tramways, and ghost towns from the mining boom of the late 1800s. The Alpine Loop also provides access to exceptional high-country hiking, fishing, mountain biking, camping, and other outdoor adventure.
